RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010

  • RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2010

    May 2010

Aquarium Architecture has been commissioned to do a small planted aquarium at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Aquarium Architecture, Indoor Garden Design and Votra were invited to jointly exhibit by the Royal Horticultural Society at the Chelsea Flower Show. Working together to create a new concept, the team designed The Living Office. Our team has installed a small planted aquarium that was incorporated into the design. The 800 x 450 x 200mm Opti-white glass tank was positioned on top of the desk.

The Living Office illustrates the benefits and the effects of integrating plants and aquatic life into an office environment to make for a healthier and sustainable environment in which to work.

We were delighted to win a Silver Gilt medal for this installation and even more delighted to receive a smile from the Queen who is found of fish.

In recent months the impact of planted aquariums has grown dramatically within the UK. People looking for a slightly more tranquil design within their properties are particularly fond of this Japanese style aquarium. Aquarium Architecture recently designed and installed a 2000 litre big brother version in their London offices to highlight this growing trend. Whilst the potential for this style to out shine the saltwater trend is questionable, nevertheless this style aquarium is sure to be a hit in 2010/11.
