Decorations for your fish tank

The client brief for a new fish tank London based was to incorporate a figurine in the decor. He wanted to merge his love for aquatic life with his passion for collecting Tin Tin models. While we do not usually use aquarium decorations that are not naturally found in the ocean or in the sea such as stones, gravel, wood, live rock, we found the idea unique and quite appealing.

Creating a playful set up, while still delivering the most natural eco-system, can be challenging, but with the right vision can be outstanding.

Some ideas that could work and you may want to consider if you want an out of ordinarily tank:

For a saltwater aquarium, adding a pirate ship can add an interesting feature. We would recommend a fish only saltwater tank with fish like Chromis, Purple Fire Goby, Bengal Cardinal and live rock.

Or how about something more provocative like a piranha aquarium with a life-like human skull? This sure is not your usual aquarium but can create an impressive focus point.

If you want something more fancy how about a saltwater fish and coral aquarium with a pearly shell ornament incorporated. This will sure attract everyone’s attention, wondering if it is real or not, which of course can be if you want.

Alternatively, if your children love “Finding Nemo”, why not create a theme aquarium for them. Aquariums are great for children and adding in the tank some their favourite characters along the real “Nemo” and “Dora” can only make them love it even more.

Things to considerate:

–          Try to avoid adding in too many ornaments. Don’t forget that less is more.

–          Make sure that any ornament you want to add will not hurt the living aquatic life.

–          Do not go for any cheap ornaments. They will stand out and look out of place!

–          Remember that the aquatic life is so breathtaking that you might not need anything else in.
